1st Meeting of the Asian Gateway Strategy Council

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe convened the 1st meeting of the Asian Gateway Strategy Council at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
As the Chair of the Council, Prime Minister Abe said at the beginning of the meeting, "In my policy speech I announced the Asian Gateway Vision, which will make Japan a conduit between Asia and the rest of the world in terms of the flows of people, goods, money, information, and culture. It is vital for us to firmly harness the development of Asia, a world growth center, to maintain growth in Japan. Building open relations with Asia will be important in this respect. Human resources and information from Asia and the world will come together in Japan and then be transferred from Japan to the world. I also believe it is important for Japan to develop its appeal for the people in Asia and the world." He also said, "I would like each of you here today to fully utilize your respective knowledge and expertise in order to make the Asian Gateway Vision as wonderful as it can be."
